Tales, tips and advice for kind-hearted people around Australia and the world who want to socialise, care for and find loving homes for feral cats and kittens.
My wife and I went to the local Meow Foundation shelter and fell in love with Archie and Otto (They did have different names while at the shelter). We adopted them on December 30th, 2008. Their first night was very stressful as the Meow Foundation brought over the cats and put them in their safe-room (Our bedroom). We put a large sheet over the cat-tower so they could easily hide from us. We did, however, peek under the sheet to see Archie and Otto sitting right beside each other scared out of their minds with their eyes REALLY WIDE OPEN. They were terrified. They did come out to eat and do their cat business, but they didn't come out to explore for the next two days. (I wasn't a big fan of them having their litter-box in my bedroom...lol!) After a few days they found a new hiding place under our bed. Otto came out first after a couple of days to play with the feather toy, but Archie stayed under the bed for about a week. (Archie is 8 months old and Otto is 6 months old.)
Thanks David. I'm about to post some of the pics you emailed me – they are glorious – and the cat tower features in an entirely new way. You've done wonders with Archie and Otto. J
